3 Types of Research

A. Background research:

  1. Research there is often conducted using surveys, questionnaire and interview techniques
  2. Normally done to gain insight into the potential or existing users of a product or a service
  3. Allows you to build a picture of your users understand their needs

 

B. Usability Testing:

  1. Research to test the user experience of a product or service
  2. Insight is gained by testing wireframe, prototypes or a live URL
  3. Can be used to test the proposed or existing design of a product or service

 

C. Research Understand ROI

  1. Research to learn about the effectiveness of your UX effects
  2. Also used to see how a product is performing in terms of conversion rates, sales, and other metrics
  3. Methods include A/B comparison, analytic measurement, etc.
